Secondary maths
Secondary school maths lessons, JSS 1 to SS 3
Help with the maths your child is doing at school now, and with the earlier topics underneath it. At our Uyo centre or live online, starting with a free assessment.
When secondary maths starts to slip
Secondary maths moves fast, and each topic leans on the one before. A student who missed how to handle negative numbers in JSS 1 will struggle with equations in JSS 2 and with quadratics in SS 1.
Lessons work on two things at once: the topic your child has in class this week, and the earlier idea that is making it hard. The free assessment is how we find that idea.

Ask about Further Mathematics, and send the topics your child needs before booking, so we can confirm we can teach them. For university entry, see JAMB maths preparation.
What changes for your child
Gaps get filled
The topics from earlier classes that were never quite understood get taught again, properly, so the current ones make sense.
Working gets clearer
Students practise setting out each step, which is what earns marks in WAEC, NECO and BECE theory questions.
You stay informed
After each lesson you get a short note on what was covered and what to practise next.
Inside a session
What the hour looks like
1
Warm up
Five minutes on last week's topic, to check it stayed.
2
Teach
The new idea, worked on screen, slowly, with the learner talking through each step.
3
Try together
They lead, the tutor watches. Mistakes here are the point of the lesson.
4
Try alone
Questions from the worksheet, in their exercise book, camera on the page.
5
Set and send
Homework set, and a short note to the parent on how it went.
Questions about secondary maths lessons
My child is in SS 2 but struggles with JSS topics. Can you help?
Yes. That is common, and it is what the assessment is for. We teach the earlier topic properly, then return to the SS work.
Do you teach Further Mathematics?
Ask us, and send the topics your child needs. We confirm whether we can teach them before you book.
Can you prepare my child for BECE, WAEC or NECO?
Yes. We prepare candidates for BECE mathematics in JSS 3 and for WAEC and NECO General Mathematics in SS 3.
How often should my child have lessons?
Two lessons a week is common, and the eight lesson package is built around that. Close to an exam, some students add more. We will suggest a plan after the assessment.
